Tips for the soul

Here I collect things I enjoy and like to share – small tips for calm, recovery and personal development. This is not medical care or treatment, just personal tips you can explore at your own pace.

If you have severe or persistent anxiety, panic or feel mentally unwell, please contact healthcare services.

Calm and recovery

Here are a few simple exercises I use myself and sometimes show at markets and festivals. They can feel calming in the moment.

Calm breathing

Breathe in calmly through your nose and out a little more slowly. Lower your shoulders and give your body a short pause.

Tapping

Gently tap different points with your fingertips while focusing on your breathing or a calming thought. Some people find it helps them gather focus and unwind.

Havening

Havening uses calm, soft touch that can work as a simple relaxation exercise.

  • Cross your arms and gently stroke your upper arms.
  • Bring your palms calmly against each other.
  • Make soft strokes over your face.

Book tip: Unpack Your Existence

I would like to recommend Unpack Your Existence by Fredrik Praesto and Ulf Sandström. The book has short chapters and practical exercises on personal development, reflection and mental tools. The authors work with NLP, tapping, Havening and positive psychology, among other things.

For me it is a book to pick up when you want to pause, reflect and try new ways of thinking.
